How AYENOR GEMS Began
AYENOR GEMS has its roots in Ratnapura, Sri Lanka’s renowned gem-producing region, where gemstones are woven into the fabric of everyday life. Having spent several years living in the district, I developed a deep appreciation for the knowledge, patience and craftsmanship behind the trade.
In 2025, I moved to Bundaberg, Queensland. A visit to a gem fair organised by the Bundaberg Gem Club opened my eyes to the opportunity to connect Australia’s jewellery community with the gemstones and expertise I knew from Sri Lanka. I saw an opportunity to serve jewellers seeking a knowledgeable, dependable source for Ceylon sapphires and coloured gemstones.
That experience helped inspire AYENOR GEMS. For me, the business is also a way to maintain meaningful connections with Sri Lanka and support the people and craftsmanship behind its gemstone trade.
More Than a Gemstone
Every gemstone has its own character. Colour, clarity, proportions and cut all influence how a stone interacts with light and how it will look in a finished piece of jewellery.
Finding the right gemstone begins with understanding the design it is intended for. Whether you are sourcing a centre stone for a bespoke ring, looking for a distinctive coloured gem or searching for a particular shape or size, we work with you to find a stone that suits your vision.
Sometimes, the right stone is already waiting in our collection. Other times, finding it takes a little more searching. Either way, we believe the process should be thoughtful, straightforward and built around your requirements.
Our Connection to Sri Lanka
Ratnapura remains at the heart of AYENOR GEMS. Our connections in the region include family involvement in gem mining projects and relationships with trusted local sourcing partners.
These connections give us access to the knowledge, experience and craftsmanship that have shaped Sri Lanka’s gemstone trade for generations.
We also work with experienced Sri Lankan craftsmen to offer more than finished gemstones. Through our network, we can arrange rough cutting, precision faceting, recutting, re-polishing and custom cutting services to suit individual stones and projects.

Good cutting is not simply about removing material or creating a particular shape. It begins with understanding the stone, assessing its characteristics and considering the best approach for the intended result.
Working with experienced Sri Lankan craftsmen, we offer cutting and recutting services tailored to your gemstone and project. We discuss the proposed outcome before work begins, so expectations are clear from the outset.
